Rethinking Dog Gear
Sustainability for our four-legged friends, yes, why not?
The word sustainability often feels broad — and we tend to associate it with only a few industries, like fashion, packaging or food. Yet, there are founders in every sector rethinking how to design products that leave a lighter footprint on the planet.
Woolly Wolf
Founded from an adventure on the road and a piece of retired climbing rope, Woolly Wolf began in 2016 when designer Maria created the first leash for her dog from a used rope in a local climbing gym. That moment sparked a mission: to rethink dog gear and make the way we outfit our four-legged friends more sustainable.
From the very beginning, Woolly Wolf committed itself to using recycled materials as the main ingredient in all products. Named after the rare Himalayan wolf, the brand sets out to do business differently. Its gear is designed for dogs that explore and the ambition is clear: produce durable, beautiful, eco-aware dog equipment with minimal environmental impact.
The first flagship product, the Rope Leash, was developed much like a climbing rope: a strong, flexible kernmantle core that can handle a sudden pull when a dog lunges after something interesting. That thoughtful engineering, combined with vivid colourways inspired by Nordic wilderness, has become a core part of Woolly Wolf’s design story.
Today, Woolly Wolf’s product range has expanded to include collars, harnesses, leashes and accessories - all made from recycled post-consumer PET bottles. The brand partners its clean, functional outdoor design aesthetic with sustainability: every piece strives to be durable, purposeful, and kind to the planet.
By celebrating durability and circularity, Woolly Wolf provides more than dog gear. It reminds us that even the smallest choices — like the leash in your hand — can make a difference for the planet: you can empower your pet’s adventures while treading more lightly on the earth.
